Long live the croissant! [/size]
IN Egypt we have kahk, ghurayeba (baked sweets) and biscuits, which we always say were introduced by the Fatimids. These sweets are traditionally eaten during Eid el-Fitr (the Lesser Bairam) in Egypt, while we enjoy freshly slaughtered during Eid el-Adha (Greater Bairam).
When I travelled to Ceylon in 1959, to research what had happened to the Egyptian national leader Ahmed Orabi who was exiled there for 20 years, I found out that he had taught the people there to eat two kinds of sweets, also introduced into Egypt by the Fatimids: kunafa and qataief.
He also taught the people there the principles of Islam, the Arabic language and how to wear the Turkish tarboush.
The popular Egyptian dessert Om Ali has an interesting story too. When the Egyptian Queen Shagaret al-Dorr killed her husband, who had a second wife, the latter murdered Shagaret al-Dorr herself.
To celebrate the event, she baked a sweet dish of milk, raisins, sugar and nuts. The dish, Om Ali, was named after her.
Similarly, the croissant is very popular in worldwide, especially in France. 'Croissant' in French means 'crescent' in English. It's another interesting story.
When the Turkish Army occupied Vienna in 1683, the Austrian people hated Ottoman rule, so they invented this crescent-shaped, sweet-tasting bread to tease the Turks, as the crescent is a symbol on the Turkish flag and therefore a symbol for the occupation of their land.
The Ottomans pulled out of Austria, but the croissant remained. It was then exported to other countries including France, which excelled in making croissants even more delicious. That's why the French name has stuck.
The Fatimids went away, but their delicious sweets stayed; the Turks went away, but the croissant stayed!

You are not getting enough sleep
Whether you realise it or not, you are not getting enough sleep. Recent studies have led researchers to conclude that insomnia is far more common than previously believed and its effects are far more reaching. Our generation with all its technological distractions has been the major factor behind the insomnia epidemic.
It affects children, adolescents and adults alike, in all walks of life thereby increasing several diseases, while decreasing performance and effectiveness in the work place.
Sleep is essential to life. Laboratory animals die young if they are deprived of deep sleep, and so do humans.
The American Cancer Society in a survey, concluded that those who sleep six hours or less have 30 per cent higher death rate than those who sleep eight hours, even if they had no other health problems.
'The beginning of health is sleep'
There are endless theories behind sleep-how, when, where and why we sleep! For years scientists who have studied sleep concentrated on observing and describing the cycles, phases and patterns of sleep. Dreams have also been studied extensively, induced, analysed and interpreted ad infinitum, not only by scientists but by fortunetellers and soothsayers throughout the ages.
Between the dream phenomenon and the sleep cycles of the infamous REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and the non-REM sleep, scientists seemed to have concentrated on all else except the fundamental purposes of sleep.
Why do we sleep
We sleep in order to rest and refresh our bodies. Well, not really! Scientists have yet to find any vital biological function that sleep restores.
The body does not need sleep; virtually all our organs continue to function efficiently without interruption, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, bones, etc. They do not need sleep. Why then is sleep such a major function, a necessity for virtually all members of the animal kingdom? Scientist simply don't know.
If it does not rest the body, then sleep certainly rests and refreshes the brain. There is no doubt that it is the brain that benefits from a restful sleep. Yet there is no agreement on the various forms of benefits that the brain takes. One thing scientists do agree upon is that sleep does improve memory. Memory is helpful at school, at work and at play.
The number of hours necessary for sleep to fulfil its function remains nebulous. You need as much sleep as will render you refreshed and revived the next morning. Whatever number of hours that takes, that is the precise number of hours you need. While some may feel totally refreshed after 3-5 hours sleep, others 6-7 hours, most researchers believe that this falls short of the necessary requirements; 8- 10 hours is more like it.
Sleep deprivation is what we all suffer from, decreasing the metabolic activity of our brain as well as decreasing in core body temperature, "a decrease in immune system function as measured by white cell count and activity and a decrease in the release of growth hormone." It is inconceivable that seven hours of sleep is not enough, but studies reveal that a week's duration of seven-hour nights leads to "impairment of cognitive work, requiring simultaneous focus on several tasks". Risky behaviour increases as sleep duration decreases. The sleep-deprived individual ignores the high cost of an action, focussing only on the limited benefits.
For decades experts believed that people required less sleep as they moved from infancy to adulthood but researchers were surprised to discover that teenagers require more sleep to perform optimally than do younger children.
In a recent US study, students who received the lower grades were the ones who had 25 minutes less sleep and went to bed 40 minutes later than students with better grades. Adolescents' lifestyle pattern as well as their unusual week day sleep phenomenon is reducing school performance everywhere and lowering academic standards. It is also undermining their health making them less alert, weary, expending greater effort.
The British journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine published a study by Australia and New Zealand where researchers reported that getting less than six hours of sleep a night "can affect coordination, reaction time, and judgement", posing a very serious threat to safety and well-being. The British Medical Association warns that impaired motor skills are not the only negative results from lack of sleep: stress, anxiety, depression, and taking unnecessary risks are among some of the adverse results of less sleep. Lack of sleep is behind more accidents than alcohol impairment, leading to emotional and psychological problems.
A good night's sleep seems to be the cure to many of the ailments of the 21st century. Though our needs may vary, we all benefit from a minimum of 8-9 hours sleep daily in order to restore the brain's energy. I can almost hear a guffaw from those of you who have slept less throughout your lives without any apparent loss. Consider this -- had you had that extra hour, two or three, of extended sleep, how much more effective and efficient your performance would have been. Such research studies pop up daily from academic and scientific communities throughout the world. The Dutch have also contributed to sleeplessness analysis with researcher Michel Varkavisser who found that about 20 per cent of the Dutch population regularly experience sleeping complaints resulting in work absenteeism, reduced ability to concentrate, fatigue, drowsiness, and a worse mood. A bad day at work results in more stress at home, "relationships suffer, kids react, people are hurt and angry." The result is more stress.
The National Science Foundation, last January, in a US poll concluded that only 50 per cent of Americans get a good night's sleep each week. The most common sleep disorder is characterised by: Difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep: Waking up early with inability to fall back to sleep again: Waking up feeling tired and unrefreshed from poor quality sleep.
Researchers around the world agree on two things: Sleep is necessary for the well-being of the human race, and the human race as a whole is not getting enough sleep.
So, what are we going to do about it? Off to bed
First, here are 10 dos and donts that could help you achieve nature's sweet restorer -- that balmy sleep. It is considered "better than medicine", and more effective than the sweetest lullaby:
- Do not turn your bed into your office -- bed is for sleep.
- Go to bed and get up the same time each day, including weekends.
- Avoid daytime naps.
- Avoid alcohol at night, and definitely do not use it to help you sleep.
- Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, chocolate) after mid- afternoon.
- Eliminate tobacco close to bedtime.
- Exercise regularly throughout the day; avoid exercise at night.
- Keep the bedroom cool and comfortable.
- Give yourself at least an hour to unwind and relax.
- Dim the lights, read a little, or watch TV, or have a glass of warm milk or a non-carb snack, if you must.
And so, goodnight! Embrace "the cool kindliness of sheets that soon smooth away trouble".
The amount of sleep required by the average person, is just five minutes more!

Over 1mln Cairenes are illiterate
Mohssen Arishie
Gazette staff
A study conducted in the Upper Egyptian city of Fayum has discovered that no less than 20-30 per cent of students in prep schools were illiterate, unable to scribble their homework properly. The majority of pupils polled could not read a newspaper without stuttering, or found significant difficulty in spelling words.
But the greatest number of illiterate people is reported in Cairo. Latest estimates warned that more than 1.1 million people in the big and over-crowded capital are unable to communicate with others via the written word.
The unhappy discovery in Fayum has upset the Supreme Council for Illiteracy Elimination. The council had been running a national programme to eradicate illiteracy among nine million Egyptians within three years. The programme will initially cost the state budget about LE448 million. But sources close to the Supreme Council for Illiteracy Elimination estimated that the ambitious project's budget would soon increase to LE716 million as more support programmes would be need to be implemented.
In a press statement, Raafat Radwan, chief of the General Authority for Illiteracy Elimination and the Education of Middle-aged People, said that the programme would be limited to illiterate people aged between 15 and 45. "Although there are also older people who are illiterate, the programme will first concentrate on this particular category which is the more important for the labour market," Radwan said in a press statement.
Confirming that the authority's efforts had already produced remarkable success in numerous cities across the country, Radwan disclosed that the number of illiteracy-free provinces had increased to four. He named the four provinces as being Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia and Suez. Furthermore, the Upper Egyptian city of Qena is likely to increase the number of illiteracy-free cities to five very soon.
The authority's chief disclosed that the highest number of illiterate people were in Fayum, Menia, Suhag, Assiut, Beni Suef and Behira. Speaking further, Radwan said that the Delta province of Behira comes second to Cairo in the greatest number of illiterate people, with one million. The Delta province of Dakahlia has 970, 000 illiterate people, with 900,000 in Sharkia and 800,000 in Giza.
Radwan indirectly blamed women for the steady increase in the number of illiterate people in the country. He claimed that families in many areas across the country deny their female members the opportunity to go to school. "The tradition of forcing girls to stay at home has greatly obstructed our efforts to eliminate illiteracy," he continued.
Initiating its above mentioned illiteracy programme, the government is hoping to reduce illiteracy in society down to 10 per cent by 2009. "Particular focus will be on the catastrophic tradition of school dropouts and families forcing the children to stay away from school," concluded Radwan.

Remembrance of Allah (Dhikr)
What deed is better than giving gold and
silver? According to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), it is dhikr, which means remembrance of Allah (God).
Dhikr is a form of worship that comes after the ritual Prayer (salah) and reading Qur’an in importance. While salah has to be performed at certain times and under certain conditions of purity, dhikr can be made any time, any place. It can be done by repeating certain formulas to extol and praise Allah, or it can be just thoughts of Allah in one’s heart.
Islam does not require anyone to torture himself in order to reach a high stage of spirituality. Nor does he have to shun everything of this world. Rather, one can be close to Allah (God) by frequently remembering Him with his lips and heart, even as he is busy with his daily tasks.
Dhikr can also take a more distinct form such as tasbeeh, which is extolling Allah. This is usually done by counting on the fingers or on prayer beads (called sibhah) and repeating phrases such as “Subhan Allah” (Allah is Sublime), “Al-Hamdulillah” (all praise to Allah) and “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is Greatest) thirty-three times each. Then the Muslim says, “Laa ilaha illa Allah. Wahdhu. La Shirika lahu. Lahu al-mulk, wa lahu al-hamd, wa hua ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.” (There is no god but Allah. He is One. He has no partner. To Him is the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things.)
Other formulas found in the Sunnah of the Prophet can also be used in dhikr as well. When these formulas are repeated with the lips and also felt in the heart, they are a type of meditation that puts the Muslim in touch with his Lord, strengthens him, and relieves him of stress.

well done amira
the thing that i admire in ur topics is the variety .
as for the above topic it is known that dkhir is a method for enlarging our credit of deeds
as our prophet mohamed said
" كلمتان خفيفتان على اللسان ثقييلتان فى الميزان حبيبتان الى الرحمن"
thus dkhir is a good ritual that we should keep on doing it

A Love Story
A man and a woman were married. It was large celebration. All of their friends and family came to see the lovely ceremony and to partake of the festivities and celebrations. A wonderful time was had by all. The bride was gorgeous in her white wedding gown and the groom was very dashing in his black tuxedo. Everyone could tell that the love they had for each other was true.
A few months later, the wife comes to the husband with a proposal: "I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage." she offered. "Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together."
The husband agreed. So each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with. The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists.
"I'll start," offered the wife. She took out her list. It had many items on it. Enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears were starting to appear in her husbands eyes. "What's wrong?" she asked. "Nothing" the husband replied, "keep reading your list." The wife continued to read until she had read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over top of it.
"Now, you read your list and then we'll talk about the things on both of our lists." She said happily. Quietly the husband stated, "I don't have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don't want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldn't want to try and change anything about you."
The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept.
IN LIFE, there are enough times when we are disappointed, depressed and annoyed. We don't really have to go looking for them.We have a wonderful world that is full of beauty, light and promise. Why waste time in this world looking for the bad, disappointing or annoying things when we can look around us, and see the wondrous things before us?
I believe that WE ARE HAPPIEST WHEN we see and praise the good and try our best to forego the mistakes of our loved ones. Nobody is perfect but we can find perfection in them to change the way we see them. It is necessary to understand the difficulties and be a helping hand to each other... THAT BRIGHTENS THE RELATIONSHIP

peace upon u wad muslim
this is ur first participation in the english forum.
nice meeting u and wish that this wont be the first and the last.
concerning the issue that u have displayed now.
oi have to tell that it's great and wonderfull
no one can deny that no one is perfect and perfection exists only in the creator " alah"
thus if every person looks upon other as a model of perfection they will despair as no one on this universe is perfect except the prophets
. on the other hand sometimes others difaults are loved by their lovers or beloved .
therefore perfection and idealism aren't the criteria to be loved.

Hay guys

it is kinda long . so if you decide to read .. you gotta read it all

The Old PHONE
When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our
neighborhood. I remember the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny
receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the telephone,
but used to listen with fascination when my mother talked to it.
Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing
person. Her name was "Information Please" and there was nothing she did not
know. Information Please could supply anyone's number and the correct time.
My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my mother
was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the basement, I
whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain was terrible, but there seemed no
point in crying because there was no one home to give sympathy.
I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally arriving at the
stairway. The telephone! Quickly, I ran for the footstool in the parlor and
dragged it to the landing. Climbing up, I unhooked the receiver in the parlor
and held it to my ear. "Information, please" I said into the mouthpiece just
above my head. A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear.
"Information."
"I hurt my finger..." I wailed into the phone, the tears came readily enough now
that I had an audience.
"Isn't your mother home?" came the question.
"Nobody's home but me," I blubbered.
"Are you bleeding?" the voice asked.
"No," I replied. "I hit my finger with the hammer and it hurts." "Can you open
the icebox?" she asked.
I said I could.
"Then chip off a little bit of ice and hold it to your finger," said the voice.
After that, I called "Information Please" for everything. I asked her for help
with my geography, and she told me where Philadelphia was. She helped me with my
math. She told me my pet chipmunk that I had caught in the park just the day
before, would eat fruit and nuts.
Then, there was the time Petey, our pet canary, died. I called, Information
Please," and told her the sad story. She listened, and then said things
grown-ups say to soothe a child. But I was not consoled. I asked her, "Why is it
that birds should sing so beautifully and bring joy to all families, only to end
up as a heap of feathers on the bottom of a cage?"
She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, "Paul always
remember that there are other worlds to sing in."
Somehow I felt better.
Another day I was on the telephone, "Information Please." "Information," said in
the now familiar voice. "How do I spell fix?" I asked.
All this took place in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. When I was nine
years old, we moved across the country to Boston. I missed my friend very much.
"Information Please" belonged in that old wooden box back home and I somehow
never thought of trying the shiny new phone that sat on the table in the hall.
As I grew into my teens, the memories of those childhood conversations never
really left me.
Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene sense of
security I had then. I appreciated now how patient, understanding, and kind she
was to have spent her time on a little boy.
A few years later, on my way west to college, my plane put down in Seattle. I
had about a half-hour or so between planes. I spent 15 minutes or so on the
phone with my sister, who lived there now. Then without thinking what I was
doing, I dialed my hometown operator and said, "Information Please."
Miraculously, I heard the small, clear voice I knew so well. "Information."
I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying, "Could you please tell me how
to spell fix?"
There was a long pause. Then came the soft spoken answer, "I guess your finger
must have healed by now."
I laughed, "So it's really you," I said. "I wonder if you have any idea how much
you meant to me during that time?"
I wonder," she said, "if you know how much your call meant to me. I never had
any children and I used to look forward to your calls."
I told her how often I had thought of her over the years and I asked if I could
call her again when I came back to visit my sister.
"Please do", she said. "Just ask for Sally."
Three months later I was back in Seattle. A different voice answered,
"Information." I asked for Sally.
"Are you a friend?" she said.
"Yes, a very old friend," I answered.
"I'm sorry to have to tell you this," she said. "Sally had been working
part-time the last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks ago."
Before I could hang up she said, "Wait a minute, did you say your name was
Paul?" "Yes." I answered.
"Well, Sally left a message for you. She wrote it down in case you called.
Let me read it to you." The note said, "Tell him there are other worlds to sing
in. He'll know what I mean."
I thanked her and hung up. I knew what Sally meant.
Never underestimate the impression you may make on others.
Whose life have you touched today?
Why not pass this on? I just did....
Lifting you on eagle's wings. May you find the joy and peace you long for.

i am shocked that no one answered or posted any comment
i had decided that i wont post more stories till anybody say anything
but here is it another wonderful story
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was
allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the
fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other
man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on
end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their
involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he
would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could
see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one
hour periods where his
world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the
world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on
the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm
in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline
could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on
the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the pictures scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.
Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his
mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive
words.
Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to
find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died
peacefully in
his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the
body away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved
next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after
making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first
look at the real world outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.
It faced a blank wall. The man
asked the nurse what could have compelled
his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window
The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
Epilogue:
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own
situations.
Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.
If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money
can't buy.
"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

do you know the story of" 3abed banny isra2eel"l i don't know wether you know it or not but it is a very long and great story and i believe in it strongly ..... it says that there was a very strict and very great worshiper who lived alone just to worship god and he was very appreciated by his village ..... then his neighbours were about 3 men as i think and they had a sister and they decided to travel all of them and leave their sister for a while so they searched for an honourable man (someone to leave their sister with .... someone to trust) and they didn't find any one except the worshiper... so they went to him and begged him to leave their sister with him but for sure he didn't agree so they kept begging and begging till he finally agreed but under certain conditions which was to make the girl live in a separate house and he in another house and he won't do anything for her except bringing her food without even seeing her... so they all agreed about it and they were surely happy with this behaviour... and everything went allright as they planned to BUT when he went to deliver her meals satan said to him "you can't just throw her food and leave without even checking on her and see weather she is alive or dead!!!!!" so he said ok i ll leave the food infront of the door and hide any where till she opens the door and take the food in and by this i can see if she is ok or not and for sure there is nothing wrong about it and so he did .... after then satan said to him"oh how can she live so long lonely without even talking or seeing a human being" so he decided that he will just knock the door and deliver her meal and he will say good morning ,how are you and thats it and so he did so..... then it developed to be "oh poor girl how can i leave her to eat all alone!!! am i not a human ?????!!!! i have to go and sit with her while eating even without talking" and so he did ....and then while they were eating he touched her hand with no previous intention then.....????? you know what hapenned i don't have to say more about what satan did then she got pregnant and he said "oh what shall i do now i can't marry her without telling her brothers" and so he left her like this till she gave birth to a baby..... then satan told him" her brothers will kill you if you didn't hide what you have done there no other solution except KILLING her and her child and claiming that she died normally and that you burried her " and so he did and then everything was allright and 100 foll we 14 till her brothers came!!!!! so he told them about the fake story and they believed him cause he is an honourable guy..... but satan ma3adahash keda tab3an....he made him self like a true man and he told her brothers about the true story and he told them "if you can't believe me go and dig in a certain place and you ll find her body and her baby next to her "and so they did...... and when they discovered the truth they took the worshiper and crossified him.... after a while the satan came once more to the worshiper while he was hanging and he told him that if you want me to take you down and relieve you "stop believing in allah and worship me" and so he did..... then satan couldn't do anything for him and he left him alone to die as a disbeliever we da tab3an gazat elly yemshy warra shoushou i just wanted to say that satan has an infinite number of tricks to take us down with him and he won't start with you with "okfur" no he will lead you slowly one by one till you fall wal 3eyazo bellah and sometimes you can say what is the harm in talking to a girl or even going out with her as long as we are respecting each other ...... believe me satan won't leave you alone especially if you are close to god..... so don't let yourself take even one step in the path of "shoubohat"l i know that this is not the exact narration of the story but it strongly resembles it so plz forgive me hope you could understand what i tried to say |

here u r a new story
it will be displayed as a serial
here u r the first episode
wish that it appeals to u
"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat."
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines."
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."
"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient race in that sector and they're made out of meat."
"Maybe they're like the orfolei. You know, a carbon-based intelligence that goes through a meat stage."
"Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several of their life spans, which didn't take long. Do you have any idea what's the life span of meat?"
"Spare me. Okay, maybe they're only part meat. You know, like the weddilei. A meat head with an electron plasma brain inside."
"Nope. We thought of that, since they do have meat heads, like the weddilei. But I told you, we probed them. They're meat all the way through."
"No brain?"
"Oh, there's a brain all right. It's just that the brain is made out of meat! That's what I've been trying to tell you."
"So ... what does the thinking?"
"You're not understanding, are you? You're refusing to deal with what I'm telling you. The brain does the thinking. The meat."
"Thinking meat! You're asking me to believe in thinking meat!"
"Yes, thinking meat! Conscious meat! Loving meat. Dreaming meat. The meat is the whole deal! Are you beginning to get the picture or do I have to start all over?"
"Omigod. You're serious then. They're made out of meat."
"Thank you. Finally. Yes. They are indeed made out of meat. And they've been trying to get in touch with us for almost a hundred of their years."
"Omigod. So what does this meat have in mind?"
"First it wants to talk to us. Then I imagine it wants to explore the Universe, contact other sentiences, swap ideas and information. The usual."

thinking meat ????l hahahahahha funny i m eagerly waiting for thr rest of the story |
hey al batool
i'm happy to know that the story appealed to u
here u r the 2nd and last episode of the former story
2 >
"We're supposed to talk to meat."
"That's the idea. That's the message they're sending out by radio. 'Hello. Anyone out there. Anybody home.' That sort of thing."
"They actually do talk, then. They use words, ideas, concepts?"
"Oh, yes. Except they do it with meat."
"I thought you just told me they used radio."
"They do, but what do you think is on the radio? Meat sounds. You know how when you slap or flap meat, it makes a noise? They talk by flapping their meat at each other. They can even sing by squirting air through their meat."
"Omigod. Singing meat. This is altogether too much. So what do you advise?"
"Officially or unofficially?"
"Both."
"Officially, we are required to contact, welcome and log in any and all sentient races or multibeings in this quadrant of the Universe, without prejudice, fear or favor. Unofficially, I advise that we erase the records and forget the whole thing."
"I was hoping you would say that."
"It seems harsh, but there is a limit. Do we really want to make contact with meat?"
"I agree one hundred percent. What's there to say? 'Hello, meat. How's it going?' But will this work? How many planets are we dealing with here?"
"Just one. They can travel to other planets in special meat containers, but they can't live on them. And being meat, they can only travel through C space. Which limits them to the speed of light and makes the possibility of their ever making contact pretty slim. Infinitesimal, in fact."
"So we just pretend there's no one home in the Universe."
"That's it."
"Cruel. But you said it yourself, who wants to meet meat? And the ones who have been aboard our vessels, the ones you probed? You're sure they won't remember?"
"They'll be considered crackpots if they do. We went into their heads and smoothed out their meat so that we're just a dream to them."
"A dream to meat! How strangely appropriate, that we should be meat's dream."
"And we marked the entire sector unoccupied."
"Good. Agreed, officially and unofficially. Case closed. Any others? Anyone interesting on that side of the galaxy?"
"Yes, a rather shy but sweet hydrogen core cluster intelligence in a class nine star in G445 zone. Was in contact two galactic rotations ago, wants to be friendly again."
"They always come around."
"And why not? Imagine how unbearably, how unutterably cold the Universe would be if one were all alone ..."
the end
wanna c ur participations very soooooooooooon

hay guys take this
and don't stop posting ur opinions !!!
My mom only had one eye.
I hated her... she was such an embarressment... my mom ran a small shop
at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell...
anything for the money we needed.... she was such an embarressment.
There was this one day during elementary school... it was field day, and
my mom came. I was so embarressed. how could she do this to me?
I threw her a hateful look and ran out.
The next day at school... "Your mom only has one eye?!?!" ..and they
taunted me. I wished that my mom would just dissappear from this world
so I said to my mom, "Mom.. why dont you have the other eye?! if you're
only gonna make me a laughingstock, why dont you just die?!!!"
my mom did not respond... I guess i felt a little bad, but
at the same
time, it felt good to think that i had said what i'd wanted to say all
this time... Maybe it was because my mom hadnt punished me, but i
didnt think that i had hurt her feelings very badly.
That night... I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a glass of
water. My mom was crying there, so quietly, as if she was afraid that
she might wake me. I took a look at her, then turned away, because of
the thing I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me
in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my
mother who was crying out
of her one eye. so i told myself that i would grow up and become
successful, cause I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty..
Then I studied real hard. I left my mother and came to Seoul and
studied, and got accepted in the Seoul University with all the
confidence i had.
Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. Then i had kids, too...
Now i'm living happily as a successful man. I like it here because it's
a place that doesnt remind me of my mom. This happiness was getting
bigger and bigger, when....
What?!
Who's this?!
...It was my mother...
..Still with her one eye.
It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran
away, scared of my mom's eye, and i asked her,
"Who are you?!"
"I dont know you!!!" as if trying to make that real. I screamed at her,"
how dare you come to my house and scare my daughter!"
"GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!"
And to this, my mother quietly answered, "oh, i'm so sorry. i may have
gotten the wrong address," and she dissappeared out of sight.
Thank goodness... she doesnt recognize me.. i was quite relieved.
I told myself that i wasnt going to care, or think about this
for the rest of my life. Then a wave of relief came upon me...
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.
so, lying to my wife that i was going on a business trip, I went. After
the reunion, i went down to the old shack, that i used to call a
house...just out of curiosity. There, I found my mother fallen on the
cold ground, but I did not shed a single tear. She had a piece
of paper in her hand.... it was a letter to me.
My son...
I think my life has been long enough now..
And... I wont visit Seoul anymore...
But would it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me
once in a while? I miss you so much.. and I was so glad when I heard you
were coming for the reunion. But i decided not to go to the school.
...For you... And i'm sorry that i only have one eye, and i was an
embarressment for you. You see, when you were very little, you
got into an accident, and lost your eye. as a mom, i couldnt stand
watching you having to grow up with only one eye... so i gave you mine... I
was so proud of my son that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my
place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did..
the couple times that you were angry with me,.. I thought to myself,
'it's because he loves
me..'
My Son... Oh, My Son...
